Check out our photos from our annual drum run in Rockport, TX
Each year the large Black Drum make a “run” from the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico through the Intracoastal waterways on their journey to the shallow bay systems along the Texas coast to spawn. The prime month for catching these monsters is February and March. Texas Parks & Wildlife allows you to keep 5 per day ranging from 14″ to 30″. The drum that are caught in the annual drum run range from 25″ and up, so you rarely get to keep one of these beauties but keep your camera handy because THEY ARE SO MUCH FUN TO CATCH (AND RELEASE)! You’ll need a photo to show your friends and family!!
